I am very excited to see the new Park Square homes begin to appear in the Patriot's Landing section of Reunion. The model home fits in nicely with the existing "Old Florida" architectural styles that are already represented such as American Vernacular, Florida Cracker and Key West. The hues of blues on the facade complement and complete the tropical color exteriors pallets established by the surrounding cottages originally conceived by Canin Associates.
I've had the unique opportunity to stay for the better part of a year in one of these lovely vacation homes which belongs to a dear friend of mine. I have also enjoyed many of the amenities the resort has to offer. It is a true golfer's paradise, and the only resort in the world who can claim three signature golf courses designed by legendary golfers, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Arnold Palmer. Each one combines the breathtaking vistas of rolling hills and water features with the beauty of natural landscapes, and a unique and challenging layout.
There are plenty of choices when dining in Reunion. At the Clubhouse Grill, which is open every day from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, you have many options. You can dine indoors in the main room with family and guests, or work at a quiet table in the lounge while you sip on their freshly made iced tea or your favorite beverage from their full bar, keeping an eye on the news or current sporting event. Perhaps you would rather enjoy the warm breezes out on the patio while you watch golfers approach Watson's Independence course. Whatever seat you choose, you will appreciate the view. Their breakfast menu consists of the most comforting of home cooked entrees, including thick slices of french toast and light and fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The all day dining menu consists of a pleasing array of sandwiches, specialty burgers, salads and entrees ranging from braised BBQ ribs to shepherd's pie. And there is always a members only special which is available with a glass of the featured wine, fountain drink, or iced tea. Did I mention they make their iced tea when you order it? No stained plastic pitchers here. And it is absolutely delicious!
The Grill serves food and drinks poolside at the water park and lazy river as well. After you have exerted all of that energy drifting aimlessly along the lazy river afloat in your inflatable tube, you can summon burgers and cocktails to your hearts content with just a languid wave of the hand to a passing server.. The water park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting, with last call for bar service ending at 4:30 p.m. and food service hours running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Want to make sure to get the kiddies are ready for a good night sleep? Let them wipe themselves out climbing up to and skittering down the twisting water slides over and over. And it's always fun to watch the giant water bucket tumble over and empty its contents on the expectant guests below. Every once in a while, it catches someone by surprise.

The Cove is another favorite spot, located at the Seven Eagles Pool Pavillion which is an activity hub at Reunion Resort overlooking the Legacy course. The cool waters of the pool, heated in winter months are available for daily enjoyment from 7a.m. to 11p.m., weather permitting. Food service runs from 11a.m. to 4p.m.. Burgers, dogs, sandwiches, salads, and wraps inspired by the flair of the islands are some of the tropical fare offered here. Bar service hours are slightly extended, serving from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. I must confess the Orlando Vice is my favorite frozen vice of Malibu, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, strawberry, and pina colada oasis mix. Ask for a rum floater! While there, play a rack of billiards in the shaded outdoor patio poolside, or check out the fitness center where you can play games while racking up miles and burning up some calories on the treadmill. Or simply lounge in the sun and order another happy hour special. The day is yours!
Forte serves traditional Italian cuisine in their small and large private dining rooms which provide a warm, rustic atmosphere as a backdrop for intimate settings and special occasions. I am happily making my way through piccata, marsala and parmesean section of this reasonably priced menu of authentic flavors. I should mention the wine cellar which has over 250 unique selections of the best vinos from around the globe. Forte is located on the ground floor of the Reunion Grande. Reservations are strongly recommended for this exclusive dining which can be experienced and savored every Friday and Saturday evening from 6 p.m.to 10 p.m.and Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Forte is closed on Tuesdays.
Eleven is the upscale and glamorous indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge which sits atop the Reunion Grande hotel on the 11th floor and is open nightly for dinner, except Sundays. The steakhouse showcases delectable filets and chops paired with optional rubs, sauces, bernaise and jus. Maybe you are in the mood for a pistachio panko crusted salmon with a Frangelico glaze? How about a crispy skinned duck breast with a cherry cabernet reduction? I may have to make another reservation soon! And yes, there is a kids menu for children 12 and younger. And although no food is served during the day, guests are most welcome to enjoy great music and handcrafted cocktails by the rooftop pool.
